新加坡南洋理工大学材料科学与工程学院的Kedar Hippalgaonkar副教授课题组预招收一名2025年春季入学的博士生，有奖学金支持。
博士课题方向为密度泛函理论（DFT）计算和/或机器学习手段开展材料结构设计、晶体结构预测等研究。
Kedar教授于2014年于加州大学伯克利分校获得博士学位，师从Arun Majumdar和Xiang Zhang教授，2014年加入新加坡科技局材料工程研究院，2018年加入南洋理工大学。更多详见以下原英文介绍。

招生要求：
（1）申请者要有材料、化学、物理等相关专业的工学/理学学士或硕士学位，并对计算材料学，计算物理，或计算化学等感兴趣。
（2）申请者必须至少 熟练使用VASP或Quantum ESPRESSO或其它类似DFT计算软件中的一种。
（3）具有晶体结构预测、Python编程、或者机器学习经验的更佳（加分项，非必须）。

Ph.D. Candidate Position at Nanyang Technological University

A Ph.D. position with scholarship support of Jan-2025 intake is available in Assoc Professor Kedar Hippalgaonkar’s lab, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The scholarship cover the tuition fee and monthly stipend of SG$ 2, 700 before qualifying exam (QE), and increase to SG$ 3, 200 after QE.
The project involves materials design and crystal structure prediction by density functional theory (DFT) calculations, coupled with machine-learning tools. For more information on the lab please visit our group page:

Requirements
(1) Interested candidates should have the bachelor/master’s degree of science or engineering on materials/physics/chemistry or related fields, and are expected to be enthusiastic in computational materials science, computational materials physics, computational chemistry.
(2) Prior experiences of at least one of computational techniques like VASP, Quantum ESPRESSO, or other DFT codes, are required.
(3) Previous experience in crystal structure prediction, Python programing, or machine-learning will be a plus.

Supervisor’s biography
Prof. Kedar Hippalgaonkar obtained his Ph.D. from UC Berkeley in 2014 (supervisor: Prof. Arun Majumdar and Prof. Xiang Zhang). Now he is a NRF Fellow and a joint appointee with the Materials Science and Engineering Department at Nanyang Technological University and as a Senior Scientist at the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering at the A*STAR. He led the Accelerated Materials Development for Manufacturing (AMDM) program focusing on the development of new materials, processes and optimization using Machine Learning, AI and high-throughput computations and experiments in electronic and plasmonic materials and polymers. He has published over 70 research papers and has been serving as an associate editor of Digital Discovery, has co-founded a startup (Xinterra, Inc.), won the MOE START Award in 2021 and was nominated as a Journal of Materials Chemistry Emerging Investigator in 2019. He was recognized as a Science and Technology for Society Young Leader in Kyoto in 2015.
